Privacy Policy

Effective date: May 2, 2026

Rodin is a tool that reads your writing and surfaces how you think. Because your notes are personal, we want to be direct about exactly what happens to your data — no vague language, no hidden uses.

1. What we collect

When you use Rodin, we collect:

  • Your writing. The text you paste or upload to generate your fingerprint. This is sent to Anthropic's Claude API for analysis only. Your writing is not stored by Rodin. Once the fingerprint is generated, the source text is discarded.
  • Your name. Displayed publicly on your profile.
  • Your handle or email. A Twitter handle or email address you optionally provide so others can contact you. Displayed publicly on your profile.
  • Your intellectual fingerprint. The AI-generated analysis — themes, questions, mental models, influences, blind spots, and core question — stored and displayed publicly.
  • Usage data. Vercel Analytics collects anonymized page view counts and basic device/location data (country, browser type). No cookies are used for tracking.

We do not collect passwords, payment information, or any information about you beyond what you explicitly provide.

2. How we use your data

We use your data for exactly one purpose: to generate and display your intellectual fingerprint profile.

Specifically:

  • Your writing is sent to Anthropic's Claude API to extract your fingerprint, then immediately discarded. Anthropic processes this data under their own Privacy Policy. We recommend reviewing it. As of the effective date of this policy, Anthropic does not use API-submitted content to train their models.
  • Your name, handle, and fingerprint are stored and displayed on your public profile page.
  • Your source writing is never stored in our database. Only the derived fingerprint is retained.
  • We use aggregate, anonymized analytics to understand how many people are using Rodin.

We do not sell your data. We do not store your writing. We do not use your data to train machine learning models. We do not show you ads.

3. Public profiles

When you create a profile, your name, handle, and fingerprint become publicly accessible to anyone with the link. There is no login required to view a profile. Your profile URL (e.g. rodin.fyi/p/[id]) is designed to be shareable.

Before creating a profile, review what will be made public. Your fingerprint contains an AI-generated characterization of your thinking — including a "blind spots" section — derived from the writing you submitted. Consider whether the content you upload reflects what you want associated with your name publicly.

4. Third-party services

Rodin uses the following third-party services:

All three services may process data in the United States. By using Rodin, you acknowledge this.

5. Data retention

Profiles and associated data are retained indefinitely to maintain the service. We do not currently have an automated profile deletion mechanism — this is a known gap we are working to address.

Until user-initiated deletion is available, you can request deletion by emailing support@rodin.fyi with your profile URL. We will process valid deletion requests within 30 days. Note that data may persist in backups for up to 90 additional days after deletion.

6. Your rights

Depending on where you are located, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Access. Request a copy of the data we hold about you.
  • Correction. Request that inaccurate data be corrected.
  • Deletion. Request that your profile and associated data be deleted.
  • Portability. Request your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
  • Objection. Object to certain processing activities.

To exercise any of these rights, email support@rodin.fyi. We will respond within 30 days.

If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA), you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

7. Children

Rodin is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has submitted data to Rodin, contact us at support@rodin.fyi and we will delete it.

8. Mobile app

The Rodin mobile app (iOS and Android) accesses the same data as the website. In addition, the app:

  • Stores your management token on device. When you sign in via the magic link from your email, the token is saved in the operating system's encrypted secure storage (Keychain on iOS, EncryptedSharedPreferences on Android). It is not transmitted anywhere except to Rodin's API to authenticate you.
  • Registers a push notification token. If you grant the notification permission, the app receives an Expo push token (a long opaque string issued by Apple Push Notification service or Firebase Cloud Messaging) and sends it to Rodin so we can notify you when someone resonates with your profile. The token is bound to your specific app installation and is invalidated automatically if you revoke the permission, uninstall the app, or do not open the app for an extended period.
  • Sends notifications you can disable at any time. Use your device's notification settings to turn off Rodin notifications. You can also unregister entirely by signing out in the app, which deletes the stored token from our database.

The mobile app does not access your contacts, location, microphone, camera, photo library, calendar, or any other on-device data outside the items listed above.

9. Changes to this policy

We will update this policy as Rodin evolves. Material changes will be noted with a new effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of Rodin after changes constitutes acceptance.
